Solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of Colors of Rostov children’s drawing contest organized by Empils was held in the Rostov Regional Academic Youth Theatre.
Empils has been organizing Colors of Rostov contest, devoted to Rostov-on-Don, since 1998. Current event is the 14th already. Annually hundreds of young artists (aged from 3 to 17) from the capital of the Southern Federal District and also from the Rostov Region and neighboring regions take part in this event.
Colors of Rostov-2011 contest welcomed 800 drawings made in various techniques, and a total number of drawings, reviewed by the contest commission during the whole time the contest existed, is already around 10,000. This year 126 participants of different age categories were awarded with prizes. Authors of the best pieces of art received letters of thanks and certificates of honor, and also received gifts – books, desktop development games, construction kits, assembly models and soft toys.
Empils’ chief executives, heads of administration of Rostov-on-Don and district administrations of the city, trade unions, as well as cultural community representatives took part in awarding the contest winners.
“Treasure Island” performance was shown in the end of the event.
Earlier the drawings of Colors of Rostov contest participants have already been presented at a charity exhibition and sale, and raised money have been forwarded to Child Care Center No. 1 of Rostov-on-Don. This year it is decided to continue this successful experience. Charity exhibition and sale will be held in the lobby of the Rostov Regional Academic Youth Theatre (3 Svobody Square) during two months – from October till December. All those who wish can purchase as many drawings as they like. The Abandoned Children Protection Charity Fund called “I have no mum” assists in fund raising and allocation of funds.
Empils, the largest Russian manufacturer of paints and varnishes and zinc oxide, along with Rostselmash is a part of Novoe Sodruzhestvo holding.
Holding annual Colors of Rostov contests is one of Empils’ social program activities, also including assistance to schools and preschool establishments, orphan asylums and Russian Orthodox Church cathedrals.
